Keeping Safe at School

On Friday the builders arrived to start working on our school hall. Room 7 went to have a look at what they were doing.

The builders have put up this tall fence and orange wire to make sure children don't go near the building site.

Keeping Ourselves Safe

For the first 6 weeks of term 1 we are learning about 'Keeping Ourselves Safe'. On Friday we brainstormed what we know about dangers and how to keep safe.
Here is what we already know:

Dangerous things:
-Fires and ovens are hot
-Earthquakes
-Tsunamis
-Tornados
-Matches
-Four wheeler motorbikes
-Bulls
-Tree huts up high
-Train tracks
-Riding a bike on the road

How we can keep safe:
-In an earthquake get under a table
-Wear a cycle helmet
-Wear a seatbelt
-In a fire, get out fast
-Wear a helmet on a four wheeler motorbike
-When you cross the road, look left and right

Yum!

Swimming

Room 7 had our first day of swimming today. We couldn't wait to get into the water and show off what we can do. We learnt how to get into the water safely. We sang 'Ring a Ring a Rosy' and put our heads under the water. Tomorrow we are working on blowing bubbles. The water was a bit cold  but we sooned warmed up after we got moving.

Meet the Stars in Room 7

To our Mums and Dads,
We had a busy fun day at school!
We sang and danced to a song called 'Shake the Sillies Out'. This is a very funny song.
Please help us to get our togs ready for school tomorrow. Remember we need to put our names on them so they don't get lost.

Welcome

Wow! Welcome back to school for 2014.  I am super excited about starting the term. I had a wonderful holiday, relaxing, reading, seeing family and friends and I did lots of jobs around my house. I wonder what the children in Room 7 did on their holiday? Make sure you have something to share with me on day 1. I can't wait to hear about what you got up to.
Term 1 is going to be very busy and full of lots of fun. Keep looking at the blog to see what we have been up to and what is happening throughout the term.
See you all on Monday!
